Introducing Melissa, our manager and one of our talented pole and burlesque instructors. Joelle

POLE INSTRUCTOR

Meet Joelle, her love of dance started when she was young and did Rhythmic Gymnastics, being both competitor and then becoming coach when in her teens. That passion continued to becoming a professional contemporary and ballet dancer, and also learning many other various styles of dance and performing. She has studied a diploma of performance and bachelor of dance as well as certificates in fitness and personal training.

After having her daughter she felt unfit and unmotivated (as well as very sleep deprived) she was recommended to try pole dancing while working at the reception desk at the gym. Feeling out of her comfort zone but wanting to try something new she tried a class and was hooked. She was later that year asked to become an pole instructor and 5 years on has absolutely enjoyed every part of it. ‘Pole changed my life, I have gained so much body confidence, strength and I love how it challenges me to achieve things I never thought I was capable of achieving. Being an instructor and helping those along their pole journey is so rewarding, I am constantly inspired by students I meet and love helping them achieve what they once thought impossible. Also to mention all the beautiful friendships and supportive community pole brings together.’

Joelle's highlights in pole include placing first in her first pole competition, the West Australian Pole Championships. She also placed second in the Australian Pole Championships in the same year.

Mel

POLE INSTRUCTOR

In 2016, Melissa found her passion for pole dancing, seeking a new challenge after a decade as a competitive athlete. She quickly fell in love with the blend of athleticism, grace, and self-expression it offers.

Despite her lack of experience in dance and aerial arts, her dedication and perseverance have motivated countless students to challenge themselves, break stereotypes, and uncover their own love for pole dancing.

With an emphasis on safety and technique, Melissa fosters a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in her classes, allowing students of all levels to explore their creativity while building strength, confidence, and community.

In 2024, she proudly won the Pole Unity Amateur Division, and we are all incredibly proud of her achievement.

Alice

POLE INSTRUCTOR

Alice walked into her first pole class in 2016, and never really left. Pole combined the solo aspect of her love for swimming with the grace and flow she learnt from a casual fling with Ballroom dancing, while also not feeling like too much of a workout. This trifecta was perfect for keeping her hooked while learning skills and acquiring strengths she never thought she'd be capable of.

In 2018 she started to share the joy of pole with others. "My favourite thing about teaching pole is lovingly proving people wrong! What I mean is, so often we hear 'I can't' or 'I won't be able to' or 'I'm not strong enough' and then in the right environment, with the right tools, and the best cheer squad, people flourish! They surprise themselves all the time, and I adore being able to support and cheer and clap, and say 'I knew you could' just like people have done for me during my journey. Come in and I'll show you what I mean!"

Stacy

POLE INSTRUCTOR

“I began my pole journey in January 2019, and I have loved every minute of it. I started teaching at the end of 2021, and I love watching students grow and progress. There’s nothing more satisfying than helping someone get a move that they’ve been struggling with!

I absolutely love everything about pole, from dynamic flips to flowing spins it gives me a sense of freedom and control. I find a pole class is a great way to unwind after a long day and spend time with wonderful, supportive people.”
